Asia Pacific Internet Exchange Camp

A five-day international technical camp at Universitas Brawijaya, bringing together students from across the Asia-Pacific region for hands-on work in internet infrastructure, cloud computing, IoT, and network operations.
Joining APIE Camp #06
From 10 to 14 February 2025, I took part in the sixth APIE Camp at Universitas Brawijaya in Malang, Indonesia. The camp brought together 24 students from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Japan, Myanmar, Nepal, and the Philippines.
Learning Internet Infrastructure
The program combined technical discussions, hands-on practice, and mentorship. The curriculum covered campus network design and deployment, IPv4 and IPv6, optical networking, server installation, virtualization, cybersecurity, and DNS setup.
Cloud, IoT, and Network Operations
Later sessions introduced cloud computing with AWS and IoT. We also visited UB’s data center and neuCentrIX Malang, connecting the classroom topics with the operation of real infrastructure.
Collaboration and Technical Community
The camp created space to learn with trainers, mentors, teaching assistants, and participants from different countries. The Meet the Internet Engineers session also connected students with network specialists and members of the NOC community.
What I Took Forward
APIE Camp #06 strengthened my interest in networking, cloud and IoT infrastructure, DNS, cybersecurity, and the practical systems that keep internet services operating. The experience also made international technical collaboration a meaningful part of how I learn.
